What's
this all about?
The Temple has been a labor of love for me over the past several years and a wonderful way to be a part of the Duran Duran community. However, it is becoming increasingly expensive to run this site, to pay for the web hosting and subscriptions to the image services. Until this year, I've depended on my second job to cover the costs. But due to issues with my back (damn thing just doesn't want to cooperate with me anymore!), I had to drop my lovely p/t job and my bank account is really feeling the effects of a lower income. So after much thought, I've decided to ask for donations from you to help run the Temple. I've set up a donation button that you can see on the side bars to the news page. Donations are through PayPal and are guaranteed secure and confidential. To give you an idea of how much it costs to run the Temple: currently, the hosting is $107.46 per year, the subscription to WireImage is $10/month or $120/year, and the subscription to Highbeam Research (which allows me to grab articles and a limited number of Getty pictures without the annoying watermark) is $49.95/year. |

Why
don't you just use freebie web-hosting companies?
We've done the freebie web-hosting thing before - and it was a hassle spreading the site over multiple hosts, and annoying to all to see the never-ending advertisements and pop-ups. For the size of the site, and the traffic that we generate, it's easier and less time-consuming to have everything on one host. |

Why
not drop the subscriptions?
Everyone loves to see the latest pictures of Nick, and both companies currently allow fansites, like the Temple, to afford a subscription at an extremely reasonable rate. We could drop the subscriptions, but we'd hate to lose access to the most current pictures of our Saint. |

If
I don't wish to donate, will I lose access to the Temple?
No! This is not becoming a membership site, you will still be able to access all areas of the Temple like you do now. |

much should I donate? Whatever you wish to donate is completely up to you, and we are glad for it. However, PayPal does take a small percentage of each donation to make their service profitable (2.9% + $0.30). You can also support the Temple by ordering items on Amazon.com, Amazon.ca, and Amazon.co.uk through our links on the news page side bars. We receive a small percentage of the sales generated this way. All donations will remain confidential - I won't post any names on the site but you will (of course) be thanked enthusiastically! |
