'Barbarella' Creator Dies at 68
PARIS (AP) -- Jean-Claude Forest, who created the sultry sci-fi comic strip character
Barbarella and designed sets for the '60s cult movie that starred Jane Fonda, has died,
his publisher said today. He was 68. ``Barbarella'' went on to inspire fashion designers,
the '80s pop group Duran Duran, who chose their name from a character in the film, and a
string of comic strip heroines leading up to today's cyber-babe Lara Croft.

Durannies everywhere (and there's no shortage of them!) are gleefully celebrating the
return of seminal 80's pop band Duran Duran who embark on their first UK tour for seven
years in December. In the last 17 years - since they stormed the charts with Planet Earth
in February 1981 - the band have had a combined weeks-on-chart total for their singles and
albums of over ten years!
Original member and keyboard player, Nick Rhodes, will be chatting live on the Top of the
Pops website at http://www.totp.beeb.com on
Tuesday 1st December at 5pm (9a PST). Duran Duran released their hits album, 'Greatest' on
9th November.

reported to be working in the studio recently re-mixing Missing Persons "Destination
Unknown" for the Missing Persons' "Late Nights, Early Days" CD. It is due
out on January 24th on Nick & Warren's DESIGNER FRUIT record label
and being distributed by Nile Rodgers Sumthing Distribution.
