A clarification of yesterday's news - Cosmopolitan is *not* being made, and it's not a hoax. After some initial promising feedback from the production company and DD management, the project went south and the director has moved on to new projects. Thanks to those who wrote in asking for clarification. Update: Earlier today, Katy Krassner emailed the Temple to say, "...the band were never involved in this project and never had any intentions to be involved despite what you may hear to the contrary." Heather Ferreira also noted in an email today that, "...just to clarify, Duran Duran, Wendy Laister and Nick Rhodes did not ask me to direct the movie. LDE has signed me to direct an unspecific movie, content TBA, for their company. With the contract in hand and nobody saying I couldn't, I figured the first movie I would direct for them would be a DD movie."

A new photo is in the Confessional.

BREAKING NEWS! COSMOPOLITAN - the Duran Duran film that never got made. We can *finally* talk about it!

In the script, Nick plays an art gallery owner and latter day Warhol who pumps Gen X up and makes an entire generation get up and start marching, making art and protesting. There's this girl who falls in love with him, but she's not pretty, and because his character's dating a supermodel (name - Vyrblinka!) and is kind of shallow in the romance department, she suffers a lot for him.

Cast:
Victor Nichols - Nick Rhodes
Jermiah Ness - Simon Le Bon
Antonio Cavanaugh - John Taylor
Eliott Berneau - Andy Taylor
David Crown - Roger Taylor

Heather Ferreira, Duran Duran fan and the woman asked to direct the film, graciously provided the script, her director's agreement, and the movie poster for Duran fans to download and read. You must have Acrobat Reader to view the script and director's agreement, which you can download for free. She's also asked if anyone has any feedback on the script, she'd love to hear it! Post your feedback on Dear Saint Nick.

about the new book Duran Duran Unseen. Nick is quoted by the author:

"Paul definitely got the best pictures from that period. I remember that he had a real eye. He was around at the right time in the right place, and he got it. These pictures are great. They're a real time capsule."

Nick talking about the current state of fashion, from the Sunday Herald yesterday:

...A few months back, Nick Rhodes from Duran Duran – posturing peacock and sometime most fashionable male celebrity in Britain – had this to say about the current state of Fashion. “It’s a little drab isn’t it?” he pouted. “Music used to really drive the fashion industry, ideas starting on the street through the kids and the bands and working their way into the fashion houses and now that’s just not happening.

“The Seventies and Eighties were about individuality and standing out – Armani, Versace, Yogi Yamamoto, Commes des Garcons, Jean Paul Gaultier – whereas the Ninties and beyond has been all about fitting in. As hip-hop came in everything was about jeans and trainers and the right pair of socks. In the Ninties we had McQueen, certainly, but he wasn’t as daring. (And now designing, as it happens, for sportswear giant, Puma.)

“People seem much more afraid to take chances now. And that kind of safe environment breeds things that look and sound like things you’ve seen and heard before.”

Nick Rhodes, in fashion terms, is now a geriatric of 43...

More pix from Fashion Rocks on Dear Saint Nick and on duranduran.com. On the Fashion Rocks website, there is an auction to win a Gola Sport Bag autographed and personalized by the band, as well as a new promo shot.

Interviewed at Fashion Rocks, Nick says:

"Style has always been very important to us," said Duran Duran's Nick Rhodes backstage before the show. "We grew up in the '70s. Music was glam rock, punk rock and a very stylish movement."

Recalling Duran Duran's very first photo shoot, Rhodes said he and his bandmates went to a college campus in London and asked the edgiest students they could find to come up with the band's wardrobe. "We liked what they came up with at the time, but, yes, they'd be a little dated now."

The band, known for songs like "Rio" and "Hungry Like a Wolf," wore suits when performing "Girls on Film" with a gaggle of women dressed in clothes designed by Stefani, Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Sean "Diddy" Combs and Jay-Z behind them.

To our friends who were in harm's way during Hurricane Katrina, our thoughts are with you during this terrible time.

For those wishing they can help the relief efforts, you can! Most relief agencies are only accepting monetary donations at this time. On the main page, some links are listed to various organizations like the Salvation Army and the Red Cross. Links are also posted for ASPCA and the Humane Society - disasters affect our pets and livestock, as well. In addition, CNN has a good list of other agencies involved in the relief efforts.

In the current issue of People now on the stands (September 5, with Angelina Jolie and her daughter on the cover, page 95), Nick is quoted about Bob Moog: (thanks to GTBJ)

"I will forever be grateful for his contribution. It undoubtedly shaped my life—along with the future of music." —Duran Duran keyboardist Nick Rhodes
