My sister and I lined
up at 6:00am at the Virgin Megastore in Hollywood
for Duran Duran's Los Angeles signing. Duran Duran
is trying to promote their new album Astronaut.
(I already got my wristband on Monday night when
I purchased the Astronaut album along with the bonus
DVD. Virgin Megastore only gave away wristbands
for the first 500 people who purchased Astronaut
at their store. Everyone after that would have to
get a standby wristband.) I tried to kill time by
solving logic puzzles, reading a book, and making
lanyard keychains. I also brought my survival kit
with me which included snacks, food, and water to
keep me alive. The Duranies lining up in front of
me and behind me were really friendly. We chatted,
chilled, and waited all the way till 7:00pm.
Security only allowed five people at a time for
autographs. When it was almost my turn, the first
thing I saw was John's hair at a distance. Then
I saw Nick Rhodes! At that moment, I started blushing
so badly and was almost about to pass out. Nick
was so gorgeous! The security guard told me to calm
down and take a few breaths. When I got close enough
to the autograph table, I was able to take a couple
pictures of Nick and John.
Suddenly, it was my turn to get my autograph. Nick
greeted me by saying, "Hi! How are you doing?" He
noticed that I was wearing a Nick Rhodes button
and another button which said, "I <3 Nick Rhodes."
I also wore my 78-03 Duran Duran tour shirt. "Wonderful,"
I answered. Nick spent some time making his autograph
extra nice for me! "Thank you so much," I said to
him. "You're welcome," he responded. AND THEN HE
SHOOK MY HAND! His hand was nice and warm. My fingers
were cold from standing outside for 13 hours. Nick
was so cool!
Next was John. He signed the back of my album cover.
He was also chatting with Simon at the same time.
Simon signed my album and passed it onto Andy. Simon
had the neatest handwriting. Andy wore his sunglasses
as always and signed my album. Then it was Roger.
Roger looked at me and said, "Hi." He signed my
album. Then I had all five autographs! I never expected
it to ever happen to me! It was my dream to meet
all five original Duran Duran members! I would totally
do it again! It was so worth it! Duran Duran were
such friendly guys!
Once I left the store, I took a picture of myself
in front of the Duran Duran store display with my
newly autgraphed Astronaut album. This was a night
that I'll never forget!
