I encountered Nick in St. Louis ...

Here I go again. Once again I'm sorry for the sectioning and that it's taken me so long to finish this. One of the downfalls about being a college student... you are always busy. Well enough talk and here's the final part of my encounter.

The next morning I woke up at 6:00, after going to bed at 3:00, so I would have enough time to get ready, pick up my friend and her daughter and fight traffic to get to the hotel on time. I was sooo psyched even though I was exhausted. My friend felt the same way but we pushed forward. I was so upset when I pulled up to her place and saw that she was dressed almost exactly the same way I was...even right down to the shoes. We purposely dressed similarly for the concert the night before but now I thought they would think we did this on purpose all the time. It got be a joke and we went off to the hotel.

It's a good thing I left early because traffic was very problematic. We managed to get there on time somehow and we were crossing our fingers that the guys would be in a good mood. We walked in and told the guy at the front desk we were waiting for them and he said they would call him when they would be on their way down. So we waited in the lobby in front of the elevators for about 15 minutes and then Wes came down. He was looking very tired but he was nice and said hello. He wasn't there the night before so he didn't talk much. Joe was next and he was exhausted. I have to say that even though Joe is a sweetie pie he is not a very pleasant person in the morning. He said hello and that was pretty much it.

Warren came next and he walked over to us. My friend's daughter got scared of him and started crying so he went to go check-out. My friend knew she would do this so she tried preparing her before hand by giving her the Pop Trash c.d. case so she would recognize their faces. It hadn't quite sunk in at that point. While Warren was checking out Simon came down and walked over to us. I was the most worried about what Simon's attitude would be that morning and I'm happy to say he was very pleasant and relaxed...and still smelled wonderful, but I digress. Simon went over to her calling her by the wrong name. He eventually got it right but she was scared of him too. He made a face like he knew that would happen or that happens all the time and said he had to go check out.

While he was checking out Warren came back over and chatted with us for a bit. I wasn't really listening to what he was saying because I was busy watching Simon acting up at the front desk. It looked like he was doing an imitation of someone and kept pivoting back and forth with his head down. It was interesting to say the least. When I got back into the conversation Warren was talking about how they were flying out to L.A.. Nothing really interesting. Eventually, he got up to leave and wished us well. I thought Simon would walked out with him but he came around behind us and sat down in the chair Warren had just vacated. As he was coming around my friend's daughter started to cry again. He said, "Oh look, It's the big scarey man with the blue eyes!". It didn't exactly calm her down. He was carrying a backpack and as he sat down it swung off his shoulder and almost hit me. He caught my eyes for a minute and, oh my goodness his eye's are soooo blue, and said he was sorry. Simon and my friend talked mostly. I didn't try to hone in because I wasn't there for me that time...she waited for that a lot longer than I had. Her daughter was still afraid of Simon so he picked up the Pop Trash c.d. case and held it up in front of her. He said,"See, that's me right there." and he started singing Wild Boys to her!! She eventually said a quiet Wild Boys back to him. It was soooo cute! Since my friend is Indian she was talking to her daughter in thier own language and Simon started asking her questions about India and talked about how his mom speaks the language also. He said he had never been there and the closest he ever got was Sri Lanka for the series of vids they shot in the early 80's.

As they continued talking Nick stepped off the elevator, of course he was the last one, and waved to us and he walked to the front desk. I'm happy to say he was in a pleasant mood also. For some reason I was starting to get shy at this point and I found it hard to look at Nick. I don't know what happened to my fearlessness from the night before...I guess that night I didn't think I would ever see them again. Simon continued talking until Dave came and got him. As he was leaving he came back and said how his daughter Saffron's middle name was similar to my friend's daughter's first name. Then Dave finally dragged him off.

We decided to get up at that point and say good-bye. I hated that Nick was last because I'm sure he would have sat with us too if he had the time. We paused at the front door as my friend debated whether or not to go over to him. I was saying "Yes!!" but he beat us and started walking our way. I just leaned against the wall so he could see the baby and I glanced over to him a couple of times. I hated that I couldn't bring myself to really look at him. Everytime I glanced up he was looking my way and it looked like he was confused. I can't explain that one. He finally made it over to us and walked up to the stroller. He raised his sunglasses and smiled at her. She didn't cry or fuss at all. She just smiled right back at him. He said she looked like a doll and I promise you she blushed while he was looking at her. I guess Nick just has a way with women. I had to look at him while he was looking at her and his sunglasses where raised just to the top of his head and his hair fell perfectly over his face so you could see his eye's peaking out from under his bangs. His face is just exquisite only I can't imagine how much he has to shave. He had to have shaved around 7 or 8 the night before because when I saw him before the concert he was not shaven but he was shaven after the concert. Here it was about 10:00 the next morning and he already needed one again. I don't blame him for letting it grow for Storytellers. Eventually Dave got a hold of him too and he was off. He waved goodbye and said, "See you soon!".

My friends waited for them to drive off but I had to go get my car because I was already about 20 minutes late for class. I saw pics of Simon waving good-bye and then they were gone. I was sad that I didn't know when I would get the chance to be so close with them again but my memories far outweighed that sadness. I'll always know that I had that experience with them and nothing is going to take that away from me. That's all folks:-)
