Good
Looks, Bad Manners Nick Rhodes, the keyboardist for Duran
Duran who sets teenyboppers screaming wherever he goes, went to
a fashion show at L.A.'s pricey Gianni Versace boutique, where his
fiancee, Julie Ann Friedman, was modeling. Afterward they posed
for photographers. He wore a Claude Montana linen suit, a thin pink
leather tie and plenty of face makeup; she sported a $795 cotton
sailor suit Nick brought out of the Versacre collection. Then one
avid Rhodes fan pushed in front of the cameras: Britt Ekland, the
ex-girlfriend of Rod Stewart who recently married Slim Jim Phantom
of the Stray Cats. "I don't want her in the picture with me," Nick
announced rudely. When someone asked why, the event's publicist
answered, "Everyone knows she's a groupie." Just then a flood of
fans entered, so Nick and his gal retreated through a freight elevator.
Wearing an appropriate pout, Britt stayed behind. |
