For
those wondering why the latest album is called ""Duran Duran,''
as was Duran's 1981 debut, well, ""that's totally accidental,''
Nick Rhodes said.
""I was at my mother's house, saw her wedding photos and thought,
`Wow. I wonder what everyone else's (parents) look like.' So we
put them together and sent them to a graphic artist to make a montage.
""When it came back, he'd put `Duran Duran' in the middle, and we
thought, `That's it. There's no room for another title. Why not?'
'' Responding to ""record company paranoia'' to distinguish the
albums, Rhodes said, people started calling the new one ""The Wedding
Album,'' now its unofficial title.
Quirky. Odd. But as Rhodes puts it, ""Part of the Duran Duran spirit
is to mystify people.''
