Glaspey, 89 Dies Today After Extended Illness

Glaspey, 89, died at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
W.M. Coldsnow, south of Iowa City early this morning following a long illness. Mr. Glaspey was born near Davenport, June 1, 1862, the son of John and Catherine McKnight Glaspey. He came to Liberty township, Johnson county, when a small child. He was married to Anna Greim of Warrensburg, Mo., in 1897. In 1913 he moved to Warrensburg, Mo. where he lived until 1920. From there he moved to a farm near Odessa, Mo. He came to Iowa City following the death of his wife in 1941. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. W.M. Coldsnow, one grandson, Donald Wayne Coldsnow, Warrensburg, Mo.; one sister, Rose Glaspey of Iowa City, and two brothers, Charles Glaspey of Independence, Iowa and Warren Glaspey of Fresno, Calif. One son, Neal, preceded him in death in 1934. Five sisters and five brothers also preceded him in death. Services will be held at the Oathout funeral chapel at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Richard Pfaltzgraff, pastor of Sharon Evangelical church, will officiate. Further services will be held at the Presbyterian at Odessa, Mo., Saturday. Burial will be in the Warrensburg, Mo. cemetery. |
