J.H. GLASPEY DIES IN CITY

Native of County, 75, Lived Many Years in Oregon, Returned Here

John H. Glaspey, 75, native of Johnson county and resident at 335 South Lucas street, died at 10:40 p.m. Monday at Mercy hospital.

He was born in Liberty township March 20, 1873, and grew to manhood in this community before moving to Port Orford, Oregon, where he lived until establishing his home in Iowa City May 2, 1947.

During World War I he was a shipbuilder in Oregon, and for many years he was active in the Masonic lodge work there.

Surviving him are four sisters, Emma, Sarah and Rose Glaspey, all at the same address in Iowa City where he lived, and Mrs. Fannie G. Barnum, Iowa City; three brothers, Wallace, Hills, Charles, Independence, and Warren, Fresno, Calif.

Four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Oathout Funeral chapel, with burial in Memory Gardens. The Rev. C.S. Williams will officiate.
