DEATH TAKES MISS GLASPEY

84-Year-Old Resident Succumbs Saturday To Lingering Illness


Miss Emma Glaspey, 84, of 335 South Lucas street, native of Iowa and resident of Iowa City 39 years, died at 10:30 pm. Saturday at Mercy hospital after an extended illness.

Miss Glaspey was born October 12, 1863, in Scott county, Iowa, the daughter of John and Catherine Glaspey. Her father was a Civil war veteran.

She moved with her parents to Liberty township in Johnson county when she was a small child and lived at the family home there for many years. In 1909 she moved with the family to Iowa City and remained as a resident here.

A member of the Presbyterian church, she is survived by three sisters, Sarah Glaspey, Rose Glaspey and Mrs. Fannie G. Barnum, all at 335 South Lucas street; three brothers, Wallace Glaspey, Hills; Charles Glaspey, Independence, and Warren Glaspey, Fresno, Calif.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Oathout funeral chapel, with burial in Memory Gardens. Dr. P. Hewison Pollack, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, will officiate.
