Edith Fern Ross Birkenholtz

Edith Fern Ross was born east of Reasnor January 30, 1900, and died at her home in Monroe May 7, 1936 at the age of 36 years, 3 months and 7 days.

She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.F. Ross and lived in the parental home until her father's death in 1931. Both parents have preceded her in death, also three sisters and two brothers.

She was united in marriage to Fred L. Birkenholtz April 8, 1934. To this union was born one daughter, Grace Fern, October 21, 1935.

She leaves to mourn her death besides her husband and little daughter, five brothers, Bert of Monroe; Frank and Zell of Iowa City; and Robert and Harry of Monroe; and one sister, Mrs. Ruth Van Voorst of Reasnor, besides other relatives and a host of friends.

The funeral services were held Saturday forenoon, May 9, in the United Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. Neil Stewart. Interment was made in the local cemetary. The attendance at the funeral service was evidence of the high esteem in which the deceased was held in the community.

Music was furnished by Isobel Fisher and Mrs. Dick Van Zomeran who sang "Face to Face" and "The Old Rugged Cross" with Winifred Martin at the piano.

Pallbearers werw Will Romans, Irwin Sipe, John Wittmer, Will Wittmer, John Balmer, Mark Valentine.
