| Funeral services
for Charles F. Ross were conducted on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from
the Mt. Zion church with Rev. Moore of Knoxville and formerly of Reasnor,
conducting the rites. Burial was in the Mt. Zion cemetary. Pallbearers were Arthur Smith, Eugene Bean, Fred Rhordanz, Henry McKinney, Ed Coker and Will Shriner. Charles F. Ross was born in Lee county, Iowa, July 16, 1856. He moved with his parents to Van Buren county a few years later and when he was nine years of age moved to Jasper county, settling on a farm three and one-half miles south east of Reasnor, where he resided until September 1927 at which time he began spending time with his children. He was married to Almeda Smith on Sept. 28, 1876 and she died in June 1915. He is survived by five sons and two daughters, W.A. and Harry S. Ross of Monroe, Frank B. and Zell S. of Iowa City, Robert L. of Colfax, Mrs. Ruth Van Voorst and Edith F. of Reasnor and by 19 grand children and two great grand children. He died at Iowa City, Jan. 29 at the age of 74 years. |
